A Sleep That Never Stops

about

A single release, to be featured on an upcoming EP

lyrics

Leaped from the wall
From the tower of sentient pain
Down towards the ocean of public
Sympathy and disdain
They all will miss you
But none of them care
Their love for you will manifest
From the dirt atop your hair

Your family will discuss you
A topic so carefully addressed
So they don't ever mention
The circumstances that surrounded your death

With somber faces, and thoughtful eyes
They will express care for the deceased
That til recently
Was a lie
They'll dance around the subject
Won't look you in the eye
Even when you have ceased to see
And your tears have all long dried

Mulling over the abstract aspects
They miss about your presence
They never even fucking knew you
Still they erect this pretense
The family dinner will be long
One that had you lived, you would have skipped
To avoid the judging glances
To escape the gossiping lips

The food grows cold on the table
The furnace hums low and warm

Because you, were just an excuse, to bring them together
If you disgrace the family, when you are alive
The only purpose, that you serve is to bring them together
When you die
Your corpse is a family reunion
You sleep forever while they continue the line
But are they really any better off, by persisting
In living this lie?

You used to worry
That nobody would miss you
But now it comes as a begrudging relief
That they will all, simply benefit more
When you finally go, to sleep
